One hitch I ran into with adding the oracle environment to my profile was an error thrown by nls_lang.sh when oracle_env.sh was sourced:

/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/nls_lang.sh: 114: [[: not found

I fixed it by changing the shell in nsl_lang.sh from /bin/sh to /bin/bash (my default shell). Not sure it\'s the right fix but it works.
